Jack of all trades Tupper Saussy was born in Statesboro, Ga., and raised in Florida. After graduating from University of the South at Sewanee, Tenn., he moved to Nashville, where he taught English at Montgomery Bell Academy, composed and performed music, wrote for and acted on the stage, founded advertising agency McDonald and Saussy, and edited a political journal. He held an exhibition of watercolors in 1972 at Cheekwood in Nashville, and his work is in the permanent collection of Tennessee State Museum.
